I'm glad it's over tbh. The zine is...10 months behind schedule with its release. I'm really annoyed. A lot of things went wrong -- one artist ghosted the zine despite being active online and with other zines at the same time. It took them a while to find a replacement, and then, according to the mods, lots of things went wrong mostly with the mod relationships and communications. The creator did not communicate well with anyone, which resulted in months of waiting with no word of whether or not it would get published or not.
Well, about two weeks ago we were told that it finally would get published, only for my artist to come out of the woodwork and rescind their art. I understand being angry about the zine, but I'm actually really pissed off at them for waiting until the zine was put together and essentially ready for publication -- the designer was only waiting to get input from everyone about the designs at that point, and announcements had been made everywhere. It was an inconsiderate move that resulted in a lot of scrambling and stress for every single person in the zine who just wanted their shit released already. Like ffs don't be a dick when there are 24+ people who will be affected by your stupid decision. I wanted to block them on all platforms but I didn't because I actually don't really block people unless they're like...threatening me. But that's how angry I was/still am. Luckily, two artists who are 300% better people than the original artist volunteered to do the art for that month, so we did get it published at the time we said we would.
So I'm happy it's done. I don't think anyone I know will actually download the zine and read it, so I also posted my fic on ao3. It's a free zine so it's not like anyone is losing a profit if I do that, and if it had not been a free zine I doubt anyone would have bought it because of all the delays and non--communication it went through. I"m glad no money was involved.
