[personal] KATSU

I feel like in the past year I've been to a lot of really good and really different cons, and Katsu in particular is really something. It's a good something! Something about staying in the weird village that the hotel is in (and staying in the con hotel itself which has an atrium that's kind of like a weird village inside it) gives everything a unique feeling. That, and the sheer amount of cosplay and really really really elaborate cosplay.

Katsu is the place where I've seen the most of my online mutuals and met more. Some of the people I met last year are very close friends this year, and we actually shared a room! I'm a lot more familiar with the BSD fandom at cons now, and it's interesting to see people from my twitter feed irl and in cosplay. Being around people can be overwhelming but actually, at Katsu it's really fun! Aside from when waiting for the elevator...

Both years I've been at Katsu I didn't really buy anything (which is true of most cons, actually, except Anime NYC which had the most Bungo merch) which is good because both years I've been out of a job. I feel better about having gone because I had a good time AND I didn't spend too much money. And it distracted me from job shit.

The only thing now is that I don't really have plans to see anyone until September. So...we'll see about all that.
